As a classical Christian school, we are looking for teachers who:

Teaching experience, knowledge of classical Christian education and/or Charlotte Mason education, and a B.Ed. degree are all assets but are not requirements. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor degree at minimum.

Office Assistant (3 days/week)
This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the school’s mission and values. The ideal candidate will be warm and friendly, able to trouble-shoot and handle multiple tasks, and dedicated to serving students, staff, and parents with professionalism and care.
Position Details:
- 3 days/week (Fridays, plus two other weekdays)
- Beginning immediately or in August/September 2025 until June/July 2026 (flexible on 10 month or 12 month contract)
- Daily hours would be 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Office Administrator with daily office operations, including answering phones, responding to emails, welcoming visitors, and assisting staff and students
- Prepare, organize, and maintain physical and electronic records and reports
- Assist with attendance tracking, and communication with parents/guardians
- Administrate Plan to Protect ® training and maintain personnel screening records
- Prepare and edit weekly newsletters
- Work with our Bookkeeper and Treasurer to assist with finance related tasks
Qualifications:
- 3 years of administrative experience (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and appreciation for details
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in computer use, including G-suite, Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software as needed
- Quickbooks Online experience (preferred)
- Flexibility and ability to welcome interruptions and serve where needed most
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity

Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper
Position details.
- For immediate hire. The current finance assistant will help in this transition.
- 8-12 hrs/week expected workload, may increase to 16 hrs/week at certain times of the year, and potentially 24 hrs/wk when setting up tuition
- Remote work acceptable, being reasonably accessible to the team; will need to come in to office or bank on occasion
- Reporting to the principal, working with the treasurer and other admin staff
- Use your own device (negotiable if necessary)
- ~$24-30/hour, dependent on education and experience
Finance Admin responsibilities (List #1, essential and immediate):
- Managing the finance email
- Bank deposits (weekly; may be done by office staff)
- Accounts payable and staff/volunteer reimbursements
- Payroll – biweekly
- Bookkeeping – recording bank activity (e-transfers, deposits, etc), recording credit card activity (collecting and reviewing receipts)
- Ontario Health at Home invoicing – Weekly
- Tuition Management – coordinating with families, setting up in August
- Recording donation income, and coordinate with our Director of Development
Bookkeeper / Accountant responsibilities (List #2 – aspirational over time):
- Month end close – review balance sheet, review expense classifications to correct fund (Core vs Capital), variance analysis (budget vs actual), monthly tuition recognition entry and other accrual entries.
- Monthly Board Report – prepare and send to treasurer for review

- Minimum 3 years experience preferred with bookkeeping and finance administration

Grade 1-4 TA / EA (Sep 2025 start)
Do you love coming alongside students to give them that extra attention so they can learn and love learning? Join our Academic Support Team.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant / Educational Assistant to work with our Grade 1-4 students.
Position details.
- Mornings will largely comprise of TA-type help to Grades 3-4 classes for math and composition. Responsibilities include desk-to-desk support, teaching small groups of students, assisting with grading and records, setting up / cleaning up materials, and general teacher support.
- Afternoons will largely comprise of EA-type help to Grade 1-4 students in small group settings for math and reading.
- Monday – Friday, 6.25 hrs/day (8:30am to 3:15pm, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch). Open to a job-sharing arrangement.
Qualifications.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience or training in providing academic support and learning disabilities
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Motivated, take lots of initiative, work hard, and can mind many little details.
- Patient, flexible, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young students
- Able to support the homeroom teacher, follow directions, and adapt to classroom / student needs.

Supply Teachers
We are accepting applications for teachers interested in joining our supply roster. Refer to the teacher profile above for a sense of the qualities, gifts, and interests we value in our teachers.
Employment Process
1. Learn about classical education. Before you begin, candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with classical Christian education. Although a background in classical education is not required, our teachers are expected to teach classically.
2. Apply. Submit the following application documents via email (PDF format only please) to principal [at] oakhillhamilton.ca OR in hardcopy in person to 1886 Governor’s Road in Copetown.
a. Cover letter (1 page). In no more than one page, introduce yourself, note what subjects and grades you want to teach, and why you want to teach at a classical Christian school.
b. Personal testimony of faith (1 page).
c. Philosophy of education (1 page).
d. Resume.
e. Letters of reference (1 pastoral, 2 professional).
f. List of your favourite and recently read books.
3. Initial phone call interview. All applications will be reviewed and screened, and those that appear to align most closely with our school needs will be contacted for an initial phone call with the principal.
4. Interview. Applicants with a successful initial phone call will be invited to meet the principal and school leadership team for an interview.
5. VSS and reference checks. If not already completed, the applicant’s references will be contacted by phone and applicants will be required to submit a recent Vulnerable Sector Scan report (i.e. a “police check”) in original. Applicants who have a successful interview and satisfactory references and VSS report will proceed to a teaching observation.
6. Teaching observation. Applicants successful to this point will be required to teach lessons of the school’s choosing for up to two hours. We will provide context, lesson details, and necessary materials. Applicants will submit in advance their lesson plans or notes to the Principal for review.
7. Decision of Oak Hill Academy. The school’s Board of Directors will review the candidate’s application and decide whether to make an offer of employment. All candidates who have made it this far will be notified in writing of the Board’s decision. If the Board would like to move forward, we will meet with the individual to discuss the terms of employment and next steps.
